The Nelson 34 is a very capable sea boat constructed to a high standard. This example is one of seventeen examples ordered by the Royal Navy in 1967 and was built by Watercraft of Shoreham and launched in 1968. In 1978 She was allocated to Devonport for use at HMS Fisgard at Torpoint. which subsequently became HMS Rayleigh. She was in service in other Naval locations until the early 2000's. She was extensively refitted in 2020/2023 by the present owner and was accepted on the National Historic Ships UK Register in 2024 (no 3822). The accommodation offers up to four berths in two cabins. Aft cabin with settee berths port & starboard, with stowage below. Central folding teak table (new). Escape hatch to aft deck. Door to central cockpit, with helm position to port. Seat re-upholstered. New cabin headlinings & sidelinings. Synthetic floor panels. New self-draining gas locker to starboard. Construction
Built in 1968 by Watercraft of Shoreham to a design by TT Boat Designs. Round bilge displacement blue, GRP hull with a long central keel. Painted GRP superstructure with synthetic teak non-slip panels to decks. Teak badging at gunwale and waist and heavy duty D section rubber fendering. All windows replaced with new Technautic aluminium / toughened glass units Aft cabin starboard window fully opening to provide escape hatch All old Treadmaster decking stripped & replaced with synthetic teak Replacement hatch installed into aft deck compartment allowing access to steering gear
